LE Polo classique

The polo that replaces a T-shirt.

A knitted cotton polo with a soft collar and a two-button placket. It has the ease of a T-shirt and the presence of a shirt: on its own in summer, under LA Veste or L’EXpédition the rest of the year.

A little history

In the 1920s, tennis champion René Lacoste grew tired of playing in long-sleeved woven shirts and wore a short-sleeved knitted shirt with a soft collar instead. The idea spread from the courts to the Riviera, and by the 1950s the knitted polo had become the uniform of summer elegance — worn with linen trousers rather than with a racket.

• Straight hem, to wear in or out

Care

• Machine wash at 30°C, inside out
• Dry flat to keep its shape
• No tumble dryer

How to wear it

• Summer: alone, with beige linen trousers and suede loafers.
• Smart casual: under LA Veste in Almost White, with navy trousers.
• Evening: with dark trousers and black loafers, buttons open.

Size & fit

Slim cut, Asian sizing: it runs one size small, so take one size up from your usual size. Sizes M to XL (XL fits up to about 1.75 m and 70 kg). See the size guide, and write to us if you are unsure.
